Role Overview
The People and Culture Assistant plays an important role in creating a positive, growth-focused workplace while providing broad support across the People & Culture function. Working closely with leadership, including technical service leaders and the VP of People and Culture, this position supports employee engagement, ongoing professional development, and day-to-day human resources administration.
Through regular development check-ins, meaningful engagement initiatives, and dependable HR support, this role helps employees stay connected, supported, and focused on their long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
Employee Development and Engagement
- Conduct regular, scheduled follow-up meetings with employees to support progress on individual development plans and help employees stay on track toward their long-term goals.
- Use regular one-on-one follow-up meetings to understand each employee's motivations and connect them with appropriate resources and shadowing opportunities with senior technicians.
- Own and drive employee engagement initiatives, including recognition and mentorship programs, to strengthen connections among team members and improve collaboration and morale.
- Continuously refine onboarding processes to help ensure new employees are set up for success from day one.
- Maintain effective feedback mechanisms, including regular surveys and development follow-up meetings, to monitor and improve engagement, development progress, and employee satisfaction.
- Support leadership development by helping identify and encourage future leaders through ongoing employee development follow-up.
- Implement innovative tools and approaches to keep employee engagement initiatives fresh, relevant, and effective.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Partner with the VP of People and Culture and the Leadership Team to align employee engagement and development follow-up activities with organization-wide strategic goals, supporting overall team success rather than individual silos.
- Lead by example and maintain a high standard of professionalism and engagement in all interactions.
- Champion the employee engagement initiatives owned by this role while encouraging continuous improvement and innovation across the team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employees and leaders, promoting open communication and alignment across all levels of the organization.
Measurement and Reporting
- Develop and track People & Culture KPIs and ensure they remain aligned with strategic organizational goals.
- Provide clear and transparent reporting to the Leadership Team on the progress and impact of People & Culture initiatives, using data to refine and improve strategies.
- Regularly analyze employee feedback, engagement data, and industry trends to support informed decision-making and strengthen employee experience practices.
Human Resources Administration
- Provide ongoing administrative support to the VP of People and Culture and the broader People & Culture function.
- Handle general HR administrative responsibilities, including daily attendance monitoring, maintaining employee files and records, and preparing HR correspondence.
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding activities, including reviewing resumes, conducting candidate outreach, and scheduling interviews with managers.
- Assist with employee issues and inquiries.
- Provide backup HR coverage when the VP of People and Culture is out of the office.
- Support general People & Culture projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related area is preferred; equivalent experience may also be considered.
- 1–2 years of experience in employee engagement, employee development, and/or HR administration.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Strong active listening skills.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with information technology is a plus.
